Teaching for Meaning

Teaching with Meaning is a platform for you to practice preparing and giving a short Bible talk. God’s Word is living and active and God uses it powerfully to change lives and bring people into His Kingdom. Many of us would love to be able to teach God’s Word clearly and faithfully but don’t know where to start. We may wish to teach in different contexts, whether it be a Sunday school class or an evangelistic event at your church. Through Teaching for Meaning, we aim to give you the tools to do this with confidence.

If you are interested, we would encourage you to fill out the Registration form. This will indicate your commitment to work towards preparing a talk and then giving that talk via zoom on either Thursday night, 8th May or Saturday night, 17th May.

Once you have completed the form, we would encourage you to download and print the Training Pack. Then, get started working through the process of preparing your talk.

You will see that the first thing we will encourage you to do is to find a mentor. This person may be a leader at your church, your Minister or a friend experienced in giving Bible Talks. If you draw a blank please contact us and we will help you with this process.

Then we want you to pick a passage. Short simple passages or parables from the New Testament are a good place to start. We have provided some suggestions. Using the resources provided, and with the help of your Mentor, we encourage you to write and practice giving a 10-15 minute talk.

Then on either the 8th or 17th we will join you via zoom to give your talk in front of a small group from our TTW Committee, other speakers and their mentors. We will encourage some informal feedback on the night from those listening. One member of the Committee will also email a more formal critique of your talk shortly afterwards. Your mentor may also provide some feedback and we have provided a feedback from as a guide in our Training Pack.

Teaching for Meaning is a practicing platform for those with little experience in giving a Bible Talk to gain some confidence and skills. So if that sounds like you, please fill out the Registration form above and download the Training Pack, find a mentor and get writing.

We look forward to meeting you online in May.
